Brompton Programme 2017 – Other Stories: alternative perspectives on design

2

Brompton Design District presents the theme for this year’s programme during London Design Festival:  Other Stories: alternative perspectives on design, curated by Jane Withers. Other Stories will focus on the stories behind design and making, the non-traditional elements that contribute to the process and the changes that design practice can make. Visitors to the district will encounter the work of ground-breaking practices who are driving change and supporting social responsibility – visionary economists, activist groups and social enterprises who are creating new systems to cope with contemporary challenges, from Prague to Arnhem, and from Newfoundland to London.

The programme will benefit this year from its biggest dedicated space yet: three adjoining, four-storey, Victorian buildings on Cromwell Place, owned by South Kensington Estates (SKE). The buildings are in the process of being transformed into international galleries, due to open as an arts ‘hub’ in 2019.
