The UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague exhibits at London Design Festival for the first time with an exhibition in the Brompton Design District.

The Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain is exhibiting its experimentally-minded Clay Works! installation  in the space of London Morgan Cars, which is kindly provided to the Academy and the Brompton Design District. Under the leadership of Maxim Velčovsky and Milan Pekař, the students have for three years been concerned with research into porcelain and ceramics as a specific material, and have developed new, experimental manufacturing processes. Explore unique pieces by Adam Železny, who shows ceramic work arising from a powerful explosions. Alongside this unique manufacturing process, visitors to the exhibition can see how some of the students have worked within the stability of the material and its composition and with experimental decorative techniques.

A live detonation takes place at London Morgan, Astwood Mews on Saturday 20th September at 4 pm, free admission.

UMPRUM also take part in a curated selection of students’s ceramic work at Mint Shop’s exhibition Elements of Craft,  curated by Lina Kanafani.
