London Design Festival 2007
A highlight of the LDF 2007, the special events in the Brompton Design District included: Townhouse DK, a mews house renovated as a showcase for new Danish design; a temporary shop by Benchmark showcasing the latest collection of handmade furniture in certified timbers; Gallery Libby Sellers ‘Grandmateria’, a new temporary gallery showing rising design stars. The old art studio at 5 Cromwell Place will host Gradual, a show of new work by recent graduates from the Royal College of Art and The New World, an exhibition of new designers drawn together from around the world by the British Council.
Special exhibits will be shown by iconic design retailers such as B&B Italia, Bisazza, Mint, The Conran Shop, Rabih Hage, Smallbone of Devizes and Skandium as well as the Campana Brothers commission for the Victoria and Albert museum garden.
for the first time during LDF, leading design shops, exhibition spaces and institutions in South Kensington, Brompton Cross and Brompton Quarter joined forces as the Brompton Design District. An open evening event for the Brompton Design District was held on September 20th 2007 and a red routemaster bus ferried visitors between the Brompton Design District and 100% Design at Earls Court. Other initiatives included a map and guide, a special edition of the Brompton Quarterly, and the beginnings of this very website.
